Starting Your Second Year

This class will go over things that you will be dealing with during the second year of beekeeping, including the following topics:
The class location is inside in the Fellowship Hall that will allow plenty of social distancing and spacing. Class size will be limited to maintain social distancing. Restrooms are available.

- Swarms - How to prevent them, what to do, and how to catch them
- Splits - Various methods and techniques depending on what your beekeeping objectives & goals
- Supering - Helping your colonies maximize their honey production
- Honey extraction - Various techniques for collecting your surplus honey
- Treatments - More hives die from mites and other maladies towards the second year of beekeeping
- Sustainability - How to become self-sustaining as a beekeeper (Stop buying bees every year!)
- Q&A Time - Time available for you to ask questions that have come up during your first year
