Winter is Here

Now that winter has arrived, we hope you prepared your bees for the winter weather ahead, utilizing candy boards, robbing screens and quilt boxes.

During the winter is a great time to get ready for spring by building and painting new equipment so you are ready to go when the bees are.  Think ahead about additional hives you want to start or split a hive into a nuc box.  Better to have it ready and not need it than to watch a swarm leave your hive that you weren't prepared for.

Keep an eye on your bees this winter.  If they are running low on food reserves, you can always put some fondant in the hive to make sure they make it until the spring blooms.

Winter is when the hive will be broodless for a short period of time.  This is an opportunity to do an oxalic acid vaporization to knock down the mites one last time for winter using the Johno's Easy Vap.

COVID-19 NOTICE

Several clubs in the Richmond area are starting to resume their monthly meetings.
You can see where we will be here.
We know some are still hesitant to gather in large groups, and you are welcome
to come to our homes to pick up equipment with an appointment.
Please call us to schedule a pickup or meeting to get your equipment.
The bees don't know about COVID-19 and are still going strong!!
